Abstract
Subsidence influences wastewater treatment in three ways in the designated Houston section 208 area, including tidally induced inflow into sewage collection systems, tidal flooding at certain wastewater treatment plant sites, and an increased hurricane vulnerability. This document addresses the impacts of subsidence on domestic facilities and collection systems. Industrial facilities are also affected. Houston Ship Channel industries have experienced treatment facility flooding problems as well as submergence of dockside pipelines and stormwater drainage systems.
