Abstract
A contact laboratory has recently completed a preliminary dose range- finding teratology study with non-pregnant Kbl:JW rabbits. Although adverse effects in rats and dogs have previously been reported to the agency, this study presents the first reportable toxicological information on the experimental insecticide and miticide in rabbits was administered in doses of 5ml/kg in a vehicle of a 0.5% aqueous solution of methylcellulose to these rabbits via oral gavage for five days. During these five days, the animals were observed for any effects due to the test substance: clinical signs, food consumption and body weights were monitored daily. Decreased or cessation of defecation and urination were observed in those animals given doses of 100mg and 300mg. Body weights also declined in a animals given these two dose levels. The animals were necropsied on the sixth day. The NOEL was estimated to be 30mg/kg.
