Abstract
A model is presented that describes the kinetics of the oxidation of micropollutants in water with the combination of ozone and hydrogen peroxide in a sparged, semibatch reactor. The model is based on known reactions of the O3/H2O2 system plus mass-transfer characteristics of the reactor. The principal kinetic species for micropollutant oxidation is assumed to be the hydroxyl radical. The model is tested and validated in distilled water spiked with an excess of bicarbonate, a known hydroxyl radical scavenger.
