Abstract |
A Superfund Innovative Technology Evaluation (SITE) Demonstration was conducted to determine if waste incineration is a potential application for the pulse combustion burner technology. Waste feed consisted of coal-tar sludge, tar, and contaminated soil from two manufactured gas plant Superfund sites plus coal. Testing was designed to compare conventional rotary kiln incineration system at EPA's Incineration Research Facility with the retrofit Sonotech unit. This capsule provides information the technology applicability, limitations, and descriptions; process residuals; support requirements; performance data; technology status; and sources of further information. |
