Contents Notes | Oil spill experts attended a "self assessment" meeting held in Anchorage, Alaska, in March 1994. Participants looked at the many local, state, U.S., and international accomplishments since the Exxon Valdez ran aground in 1989. Presentations were made by university researchers, agency professionals, the U.S. Coast Guard, and citizens' advisory councils. Papers include a decision-making model for evaluating contingency plans, resistance to grounding by single- and double-hull tankers, how to protect ecotourism resources in the event of an oil spill, and spill response technology appropriate for Alaska. |
