Abstract
The purpose of this study was to estimate the acute toxicity (LC50) of TCC (14C-labelled 3,4,4' trichlorocarbanilide) to channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) under static test conditions. The LC50 is defined as the concentration of the test material in dilution water which causes mortality of 50% in the exposed test population after a fixed period of time. This value is often used as a relative indicator of potential acute hazards resulting from release of the test material into aquatic environments. A 96-hour definitive test was conducted from 20 - 24 November 1987 at the Environmental Toxicology & Chemistry Division laboratories of Springborn Life Sciences, Inc. (SLS), in Wareham, Massachusetts. All raw data and the final report produced during this study are stored at SLS.
