Abstract
A general discussion is given of the different methods that can be employed in artificial groundwater recharge in semi-arid areas. Emphasis is placed on the need to collect and retain large amounts of summer rainfall before it is lost through mass evaporation and surface runoff. The use of wells and specially constructed pits in addition to trenches and rubble cones as collection reservoirs for artificial groundwater recharge is discussed and suggested. (WRSIC abstract)
