Abstract
The diffusivities and activation energy for the diffusion process of hydrogen sulfide, bisulfide ions, and sulfide ions computed from the polarographic limiting currents are reported. The total sulfide was maintained constant in all measurements; pH, supporting electrolyte concentration and temperature were varied over a significant range. The diffusion coefficients and activation energy for diffusion of the bisulfide ion are plausible although smaller than one might expect. The diffusion coefficients and activation energies for diffusion of hydrogen sulfide and sulfide ion are anomalously low. A satisfactory explanation for these low values is not readily apparent.
