| Abstract | The study explores the environmental impact of the mining and reclamation techniques employed in West Virginia and Kentucky mountaintop removal and head-of-hollow fill sites. The project is divided into four major phases, the first three of which are discussed in this Interim Report: I. State-of-the-Art Review, II. General Environmental Assessment of West Virginia and Kentucky Mines Sites, III. Intensive Mine Site Monitoring and Environmental Assessment in Both States, and IV. Evaluation and Update of Construction Guidelines. |
