| Abstract | The algal community is an important component of aquatic ecosystems and has unique attributes for water quality studies which stem not only from its habit but also from its species composition. Several sampling methods have been developed that provide useful data on properties of this phycoperiphyton community. Involved are biomass measurements, pigment composition, productivity, community structures and species composition. These features are reviewed in the report. |
