| Abstract |
Utilizing previously developed and validated analytical methods, research was conducted to: (1) estimate volatile (purgeable) Priority Pollutants stripped from aeration basins at a Municipal Wastewater Treatment Facility; (2) determine the volatile Priority Pollutants in wastewater and activated sludge of a treatment facility; (3) determine the equilibrium distribution of volatile Priority Pollutants between the solid and aqueous phases for wastewater and activated sludge; (4) measure volatile pollutants produced by stabilization of sludge by superchlorination; and (5) determine, if any, the chlorinated organics produced during superchlorination of sludge. Liquid and gas sampling strategies were developed to obtain representative data on the emission of purgeable Priority Pollutants from aeration basins of a municipal wastewater treatment facility. |
