Abstract
The Environmental Protection Agency has initiated a nationwide program of structural integrity and safety assessments of coal combustion waste impoundments or management units. A CCW management unit is defined as a surface impoundment or similar diked or bermed management unit or management units designated as landfills that receive liquid-borne material and are used for the storage or disposal of residuals or byproducts from the combustion of coal, including, but not limited to, fly ash, bottom ash, boiler slag, or flue gas emission control residuals. O'Brien & Geres scope of services for this project includes performing a site specific dam safety assessment of all CCW management units at the subject facility.
