Abstract
The report attempts to focus attention on the human use of the Chesapeake Bay. It considers what is known and what is not known about the relationship between chemical and biological characteristics of the Bay and human use. The relationship must be understood in order to address the more complex measurement of human benefits. One objective of the report is to provide estimates of values of Chesapeake Bay recreational activities and willingness-to-pay estimates of improvements in water quality associated with the activities. A second objective is to describe, model and to some extent explain recreational uses of the Chesapeake.
