| Abstract |
The report to Congress (RTC) on Waste Minimization which was prepared in response to the requirements of Section 8002(r) of the 1984 Hazardous and Solid Waste Amendments (HSWA) to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). Under this section, the Administrator of the EPA is required to submit a RTC on the desirability and feasibility of: (1) Establishing standards of performance or of taking other additional actions under RCRA to require generators of hazardous waste to reduce the volume or quantity and toxicity of the hazardous waste they generate; and (2) Establishing, with respect to hazardous waste, required management practices or other requirements to ensure such wastes are managed in ways that minimize present and future risks to human health and the environment. |
