The National Enforcement Investigations Center (NEIC) conducted an investigation of visible (particulate) emissions from various stationary sources at the El Paso Smelting Works operated by ASARCO, Inc. in El Paso, Texas during the period from December 3 to 6, 1979. Opacities of observed visible emissions were measured remotely with a new instrumentation method using the NEIC Omega-1 Lidar. EPA Region VI representatives collected in-plant data during the last two days of this investigation. |
