Abstract |
The project investigated the chemical composition of the odorants in diesel engine exhaust. Exhaust samples were collected in fluidized or packed bed collectors filled with gas chromatographic packings. Separation of the individual compounds was accomplished by two gas chromatograph columns in series. Final identification of the separated compounds was accomplished by mass spectrometry. About 100 compounds were judged to be odor relevant in diesel engine exhaust by this procedure. (APCO abstract) |
