| Abstract | Pollutants that are removed from wastewaters must be treated in such a way that they will not interfere with the intended use of the environment. The elements of polluting substances may be placed in the air, on or under the land, and in the oceans. Preliminary conversion to innocuous or nonextractable forms is necessary.
