The report represents the efforts of waste technologists of the meat industry and others to develop a concise practical guide for operating and design personnel. Reduction of wastes at their source is the initial objective of control measures. Appreciable reduction of waste can be accomplished through waste prevention measures carried out within the meat processing plant. Some performance data are presented on the more usual as well as the more recently developed meat processing waste treatment processes.
