Abstract
Waste generated from food processing activities becomes troublesome and difficult to handle. The organic material wasted from clam processing sites place a burden on sewage systems. If discharged without treatment, it probably pollutes waters near the coast where these types of plants operate. The purpose of this project was to assist the clam processing industry in developing methods to create salable products from sewage where the economics of waste handling might be turned into a credit rather than debit to the industry.
