| Abstract | Sewage polluting the Potomac River caused water-borne diseases, such as typhoid fever caused by eating raw oysters taken from the extensive and valuable oyster beds which extend from Lower Cedar Point, about 65 miles below the sewer outlets of Washington, to the mouth of the river, which is about 100 miles below the outlets. The investigations of the watershed below Washington in the report requires a very intensive survey, involving water examinations both bacteriologically and chemically, the samples to be taken regularly at many sampling points along the river. |
