| Abstract |
The review gives an overview of work, between June 1972 and January 1976, on various environmental aspects of fossil fuels. Details of this work is presented in 14 reports published during this same period. The details include potential pollutants in fossil fuels; quantities of solid, liquid, and gaseous effluents from coal treatment and conversion to gaseous and liquid fuels; and an analytical test plan for coal conversion systems. The overview report discusses commonality and differences in the reviewed processes with emphasis on factors which might affect the environment when the processes are in commercial use. Due to the lack of a sufficient data base, data and research and development needs are also addressed. |
