| Abstract |
The handbook has been prepared for use by engineers involved in the design and review of designs for publicly-owned treatment works (POTWs). Its intent is to identify design deficiencies found to limit the performance of POTWs. Design considerations have been developed that will eliminate these deficiencies during the design phases of the project. The document will prove useful to personnel involved in the operation and maintenance of POTWs since procedures are presented, where feasible, for correction of design deficiencies at existing facilities. Use of the handbook will assure that the design incorporates a maximum number of operational conveniences. |
