| Abstract |
This report provides a summary of the design, installation, operation and maintenance, performance, and costs of nineteen prototype on-site systems originally installed in 1970-1972 by the Appalachian Environmental Health Demonstration Project. These systems included electric and gas-fired incinerating toilets, recycling toilets, extended aeration units followed by open sand filters, septic tanks followed by horizontal sand filters, and septic tanks followed by soil absorption trenches. |
