Abstract
Fifteen analytical methods for organic compounds in drinking water are documented in detail. The versions in Supplement III provide corrections, minor technical enhancements, and editorial improvements to the previously published analytical methods. Several previously distributed but not formally published methods are also included. Fourteen of the fifteen methods utilize high resolution gas chromatography (GC) for separation of analytes from each other and from other substances in the water sample. One method employs high performance reverse phase liquid chromatography for the separation. Two methods utilize a mass spectrometer for the unambiguous identification and measurement of the compounds separated by high resolution GC. These two methods are extremely versatile and have been single-laboratory validated for a total of 194 individual compounds and 8 commercial product mixtures.
