Abstract
The manual provides an introduction to physical coal cleaning to individuals outside of the coal preparation industry. Specifically, the manual covers the general nature and characteristics of U.S. coals, provides an overview of the coal preparation plant, discusses the major equipment and processes currently in use in coal preparation, identifies the primary waste streams found during the coal cleaning operation, discusses the techniques of control currently applied to those waste streams, and describes the contaminant removal potential of coal.
