Abstract
This report describes the results of the study to estimate the transport of atrazine from floodwater into ground water adjacent to the lower Platte River in Nebraska. The study was limited to large rainfall-related flooding that occurred from 1970 to 1993, during the late spring or early summer when there was a greater likelihood that agricultural chemicals were present in the water. Historical hydrologic data and results from previous water-quality studies that investigated the presence of atrazine in the ground water or surface water within the lower Platte River Valley were analyzed to determine the concentrations of atrazine in surface water during floods and in ground water prior to and following foods.
