| Abstract |
The purpose of this document is to provide guidance for the development of sediment quality criteria for nonionic organic chemicals which reflect local environmental conditions. These site-specific criteria may be utilized as a part of the basis for establishing site-specific sediment quality standards to protect the uses of a specific water body. The sediment quality criteria have been developed specifically for use in the 304(a) criteria program. It is most appropriate that the need for a site-specific modification to a sediment quality criteria be evaluated during the development or updating of a States water quality standards. |
