Abstract
The report gives an initial assessment of the feasibility of disposing of flue gas desulfurization wastes in mines and in the ocean. The purpose of the assessment was to evaluate environmental, technical, regulatory, and economic aspects of the use of such disposal sites. Available data on chemical and physical properties of both treated and untreated sludges generated in ongoing environmental and privately funded sludge characterization programs were also collected and summarized.
