Abstract |
A laboratory study was performed to demonstrate applicability of VOST (SW-846 Methods 0030 and 5041) and SemiVOST (SW-846 Method 0010, Draft Method 8270) for collection and analysis of nonhalogenated organic compounds listed in Title III of the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. Compounds with boiling points less than or equal to 132 degrees C were selected as a candidate VOST analytes, and VOST analyses (Method 5041) of spiked sorbent tubes were performed to demonstrate successful analysis. Analytes with recovery greater than or equal to 50% were prepared as a single certified gaseous standard. Vost dynamic spiking studies were performed in the laboratory. Laboratory SemiVOST dynamic spiking studies featured acid/neutral analytes and base/neutral analytes in separate solutions; two sets of experiments were performed. All compounds with recoveries greater than or equal to 50% will be tested in a field dynamic spiking study. |
