Historic county population values for the U.S. Southeast Region are presented from the decennial Census counts. Projections are base-line values developed for planning and related purposes through the efforts of individual state social sciences advisory committees (SSAC's) in Region IV. These SSAC's are comprised of concerned public and private groups and individuals participating on a voluntary basis to provide a credible and mutually acceptable set of data to serve as a point of departure for plan formulation, evaluation of alternatives, and plan implementation at the small-area level (or when re-aggregated, for larger areas).
