Abstract |
The objective of the research effort described in this report was to assess the technical feasibility and to estimate the costs of installing alternative pollution control systems on clean-fuel processes which are likely to become commercially viable within the next decade. The intent was not to establish standards but rather to: Determine the types and estimated amounts of pollutants generated in clean-fuel processes; Determine the degree of availability processes for minimizing emissions from these processes; Estimate the economic and energy costs for control of these emissions; Indicate possible means for utilizing the by-products from these processes in environmentally satisfactory ways. The primary emphasis in the study was placed on the control of sulfur emissions, although other pollutant streams were considered and evaluated as well. |
