Abstract
The paper presents a technical review of the sampling and analytical data cited in the 1985 report to Congress on wastes from the extraction and beneficiation of metallic ore, phosphate rock, Asbestos, overburden from uranium mining, and oil shale. The sampling and analytical results cited in the report to Congress came from three sources: evaluation of management practices for mine solid waste storage, disposal, and treatment; hazardous waste identification and listing support: mining waste study;and characterization of wastewater and solid wastes generated in selecte ore mining subcategories (Sbm Hg, Al, V, W, Ni, Tl). For each source, the document presents a review of the sampling and analysis methodologies, as well as a description of the data collected.
