Abstract |
The document provides the Agency's rationale and technical support for developing treatment standards for Halogen organic wastes and pharmaceutical wastes. Section 2.0 of the background document presents the approximate number and geographic distribution of facilities that may be affected by the land disposal restrictions, the processes generating these wastes, and available waste characterization data. Section 2.0 also includes EPA's rationale for combining certain waste codes into the five treatability groups. EPA's rationale for identifying BDAT for wastes included in the document is presented in Section 3.0. Section 4.0 contains treatment performance data that the Agency has used to determine BDAT and proposed treatment standards for the wastes included in the document. EPA's rationale for selecting constituents for proposed regulation by means of numerical treatment standards is presented in Section 5.0. Section 6.0 includes the determination of proposed treatment standards for the miscellaneous compounds. |
