Abstract
The Air Pollutants Exposure model (APEX) is part of EPA's overall Total Risk Integrated Methodology (TRIM) model framework (EPA, 1999), in particular the inhalation exposure component (TRIM.ExpoInhalation). TRIM is a time-series modeling system with multimedia capabilities for assessing human health and ecological risks from hazardous and criteria air pollutants; it is being developed to support evaluations with a scientifically sound, flexible, and user-friendly methodology. The TRIM design includes three modules: (1) Environmental Fate, Transport, and Ecological Exposure module (TRIM.FaTE); (2) Human Exposure-Event module (TRIM.Expo); and (3) Risk Characterization module (TRIM.Risk).
