Abstract
The continued effort of Providence, Rhode Island to maintain desirable air quality through an effective air pollution control program resulted in a study of existing and potential levels of pollution. The study was in two equal periods, July 31 through August 18 and October 31 through November 17, 1961. Air samples collected at a centrally located downtown station were analyzed for soiling, suspended particulates, dustfall, sulfur dioxide, oxides of nitrogen, total oxidants, and carbon monoxide. Meteorological data for the sampling periods were analyzed and then compared with long-term data for the respective sampling periods.
