This document is one of a series providing support for regulations issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under Subtitle C of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The regulations represent the initial effort for nationwide control of hazardous waste from point of generation, through transportation, treatment, and storage, to point of ultimate disposal. This appendix describes health and environmental effect profiles compiled to support the listing of approximately 170 of the hazardous constituents identified on Appendix VIII in the regulations (40 CFR, Part 261). These profiles are also being used to support the listing of hazardous wastes in Subpart D of Part 261, due to the presence in the wastes, of these hazardous constituents. Many of these profiles have been summarized from the water quality criteria documents prepared in support of various programs under the Clean Water Act.
