This manual represents a compilation of information gathered from various sources and deals with the health effects and toxicological properties of the substances listed in Appendix VII and Appendix VIII, 40 CFR, Part 261, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). As stated in the May 19, 1980 Federal Register, Appendix VII identifies those (waste) constituents which resulted in a waste stream being listed as an IP (extraction procedure) toxic waste or as a toxic (T) waste in the lists of hazardous wastes from specific and non-specific sources. The substances in Appendix VIII are those materials which have been shown in reputable scientific studies to have toxic, carcinogenic, mutagenic, or teratogenic effects on humans or other life forms. |
