Abstract
PR Notices 87-4 and 87-5 were issued as part of a program to protect endangered species determined by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to be jeopordized by exposure to certain pesticides. These PR Notices directed registrants to add labeling to their products which referred users to additional information that, in turn, explained limitations on use of the pesticide within the range of jeopardized endangered species. While the Agency believes this approach would serve to protect endangered species from pesticide exposure, the information to which users were referred may be inaccurate and thus, may limit the use of pesticides beyond what is necessary to ensure protection of the species. PR Notices 87-4 and 87-5 are, therefore, being withdrawn pending development of a more focused program to protect endangered species from exposure to pesticides.
