Abstract
An extensive literature search, site visits, and interviews were conducted to evaluate disposal methods for dilute pesticide solutions generated during pesticide application equipment washing operations. The disposal methods evaluated include land cultivation, soil mounds and pits, evaporation basins, chemical treatment, carbon adsorption, activated sludge, trickling filters, and incineration. The methods were evaluated in relation to environmental safety, versatility, applicability, economics, and efficiency criteria. Given the state of the treatment method technology and the nature of the wastes and their generation, it is concluded that soil mounds could be the most readily implementable disposal method presently available.
