Abstract
The report deals with control devices at gasoline service stations. Field tests were made of the fit of three prototype vapor recovery nozzles on 860 in-use vehicles in support of EPA activities relating to the recovery of gasoline vapor presently lost to the atmosphere during the vehicle fueling process. The nozzle fit observations were assigned numerical ratings in accordance with a fit code logic sequence, and these results are analyzed by a procedure which quantified the nozzle fit characteristics of the in-use vehicle population for the past 15 years. Vehicles that present problems in effecting vapor recovery are specified as to type and number and the nature of the problem in each case.
