Contents Notes
The investigation was undertaken to evaluate several methods of ambient noise attenuation, proposed by Columbia Broadcasting Systems, and Bolt, Beranek, and Newman. It also explores the new developments in the area of active noise supression. The end result of the attenuation method was the employment of the selected device in the SPH-4 helmet. Both companies proposed new models and suggestions for not only active, but also passive systems. The results of the study indicate that the best form of attenuation lies with the passive methods.
