Abstract
As part of the responsibilities of the Division of Radiological Health for environmental surveillance, large numbers of samples are analyzed for gross and specific radioactivity. The processing of food and water samples is described. Included are manpower and equipment requirements, and technical procedures for measurements of appropriate radio activities. Procedures described include techniques for a series of radionuclides, as well as certain stable elements in food, and for gross alpha and beta determinations, gamma spectral analyses, and radium 226 and strontium 90 in water.
