Abstract
A laboratory manual of radiochemical procedures has been compiled and edited for use in the analysis of specific radionuclides in drinking water; nuclides for whom the Environmental Protection Agency recommended maximum contaminant levels in its interim drinking water standards. In addition to gross activity analyses, the procedures for 134/137Cs, 131I, 226/228Ra, 89/90Sr, 3H and 40K were evaluated by replicate testing to determine the method capabilities and minimum detection levels. The results, which indicate that the sensitivity of these procedures is at least a factor of ten greater than the present required limits, are given in the Appendix. Also appended is information on reagent preparation and suggested sources for purchasing special equipment.
