Contents Notes
A sampling and analytical method is described for the determination of personnel exposures to dust from TNT, RDX or their mixtures in the work place. Personal samples are collected at the breathing zone of the worker on 37 mm organic-free glass-fiber filters at a flow rate of 2 lpm for 10 minutes. The collected sample may be stored up to 10 days in a glass-stoppered vial before analysis. The TNT, RDX or their mixtures are removed from the filter paper by dissolution in ethyl acetate for injection into a portable gas chromatograph equipped with a flame ionization detector. The range is from 0.15 mg/cubic meters to 150 mg/cubic meters for TNT and 0.5 mg/cubic meters to 150 mg/cubic meters for RDX. The approximate precision is plus or minus 15%.
