Abstract |
The report is a compilation of permit application requirements, permit limitations and permit conditions for selected precious metal mines located in the United States. Seven states with active precious metal mining participated in preparing the forty-six (46) questionnaires included in the report. The work was performed through a Mine Task Force special project grant established by the Western Governors' Association. The cooperative effort was designed to assist the development of effective approaches to reducing environmental problems and improving administrative procedures associated with the management of non-coal mineral industry wastes. One of the components of the funding agreement between EPA and WGA provided grant monies for special research projects with multi-state interest. The questionnaires completed by the participating states provide a description of the selected mine projects and appropriate industry and regulatory contacts. An additional section is provided that summarizes each state's regulatory structure, associated duties and contact people. |
