Abstract
Realizing that pollution of the atmosphere by domestic, industrial and agricultural activities is becoming an everincreasing environmental problem, some states have recognized the need to assess their current and potential air pollution problems in order to inaugurate prevention and control activities without delay. The methods described here were developed and used in three state-wide air pollution appraisals in Connecticut, Washington, and Tennessee respectively during the past 12 months and will shortly be put to use in a fourth such study in Texas.
