Abstract
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is investigating hot mix asphalt plants to identify and quantify particulate matter and organic hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) emitted from asphalt plant cement load-out operations and operation of hot mix dryer. Testing was performed to characterize emissions from storage silos, the load-out tunnel, and hot mix dryer. EPA issued a work assignment to Midwest Research Institute (MRI) to conduct an air emissions test program collect data in support of the investigation. The testing program was conducted through EPA Contract 68W60048, work assignment 2-08. In addition, manual samples were collected by Pacific Environment Services, Inc. (PES). Work performed by PES was under a separate contract.
