Abstract
A summary report is made of research reviewing a study of methods of stochastic analysis in hydrology, application of the methods of alternative futures for estimates of urban residential water requirements and the use of statistical methods for estimating costs of dams and reservoirs. The results are a probabilistic estimate of water demand for situation simulating Baltimore, Maryland and Phoenix, Arizona were combined with estimates of the uncertainty in determining required reservoir size to indicate the probability of distributions of required storage in these two situations. It is shown that the range of required storage is very large. (Author)
