Abstract
The document presents the findings of a study of the printing and publishing point source category. The information presented supports the determinations that uniform national effluent limitations reflecting the best available technology economically achievable, new source performance standards, and pretreatment standards for new and existing sources are not appropriate for six subcategories of the printing and publishing point source category. The report summarizes data gathering efforts, industry subcategorization, water usage information, toxic pollutant discharge data, and control and treatment technologies employed in the printing and publishing industry.
