Abstract
Available data regarding the manufacture, use, exposure, toxicology and health effects of ethyl acrylate are summarized. Data indicate it is irritating to the eyes and nose on rare occasions, and that it has an unpleasant odor. Moderate exposure can cause local skin irritation, chemical burns, and delayed allergic dermatitis, but there is no evidence of systemic toxicity except at lethal concentrations. It is not neurotoxic, mutagenic, teratogenic or reproductively toxic, and the company has further concluded it presents no carcinogenic health hazard to humans. The Rohm & Hass Company has concluded that ethyl acrylate poses no health hazard, including carcinogenic, when used in accordance with good manufacturing and established workplace practices and government regulatory guidelines. Risk management guidelines are presented.
